I’d heard a lot of good things about the Vitamix 5200 blender. But I wouldn’t be convinced until I spent quality time with it myself. In my review, I tell you whether or not it’s worth the $475 price tag.
PERFORMANCE: A+
The Vitamix 5200 is a solid machine. It’s got a strong, 2 HP motor that helps it blast through whatever you’re trying to chop, puree, or blend. Seriously, this thing will get the job done. Whatever you throw at it — fruits, vegetables, nuts — it will blend it to the finest consistency. It’s literally like a blender, grater, and juicer all in one. So you’ll never have to worry about finding a hard piece of fruit in your smoothie again. If you’re trying to make a shake, soup, or even peanut butter, this machine will not disappoint.
FEATURES: A
The Vitamix blender is super easy to use. It doesn’t have a hundred buttons — there’s just a dial and a couple switches. It’s got ten different speeds and variable speed control, so you can get that smoothie or meal replacement shake to just the right consistency. It comes with a spill proof lid as well, with a plug you can pull out to add ingredients mid-blend. And as a nice bonus, there’s a surprisingly good recipe book right there in the box.
NOISE: B
I wish this blender was a little quieter. It wasn’t as loud as some others, but I feel like Vitamix can do better. At least if you keep the top on the container, that will take the volume down a couple notches.
DURABILITY: A
This comes with a sturdy, 64-ounce container. I accidentally dropped it once and it didn’t even get a ding. The 5200 is definitely built to last. I thought for sure its blending abilities would weaken over time, but it’s yet to do so. Although the 7-year warranty does give me comfort in case something were to happen to it.
If you’re looking for a high-end blender, it’s tough to beat the Vitamix 5200. Granted, I’m totally biased because I own this machine and I love it. But the simple truth is this — it works. Better than any blender I’ve ever had. And the price tag may be tough to swallow, but if you use it as much as I do, it’ll definitely pay itself back.
